About the Client
Bristol Baptist College, founded in 1720 is the oldest Baptist theological college in the world. It acts in close partnership with dozens of local churches and projects.
As an educational establishment it provides undergraduate degrees and taught post graduate degrees (awarded by Durham University) together with research degrees validated by the University of Aberdeen.
The Requirement
During 2014 the college was looking to create a new library space for the use of its students. The library needed to have the capacity to hold its existing collection, together with additional capacity for the coming years. The college had few demands in terms of style, but any chosen shelving systems needed to be robust enough to ensure a long life. With the potential for a large number of students using the space simultaneously, double sided shelving would be an advantage, and wide aisles to allow multiple individuals to pass.
To create this new library space, the team at Bristol Baptist college contacted the team at Rackline, based on their reputation within both the education and library sectors, and due to the turn-key service they provided.
The Solution – Time Tested Library Shelving
After an initial visit, audit of stock and plans, Rackline suggested 52 bays of its robust Pro-Libero library shelving solution, these provide 342 linear meters of book storage which was far and above their initial requirements.
And more…
Following on from this initial install, as the college grew, in 2019 Rackline were called back to add further library shelving bays. These consisted of further Pro-Libero shelving to complement the existing system, but wall bays to further maximise the available space. In total these further installations added an extra 85 linear meters of shelving space.
