They aim to supply plastic-free goods, plant-based foods and a cross section of eco-friendly products.
The business operates from its site in Hove, but also online. It even has a B2B focused site dedicated to bulk purchases for businesses and other retailers.
The Requirement
After its inception, the business grew rapidly. With locals embracing the store’s range of high quality, environmentally sustainable products.
This success in the local market inspired Harriet and Mhiran to diversify their range further, and open online stores to complement their retail shop. Like their bricks and mortar business these also proved extremely popular. Though this success was welcomed, it did lead to the requirement for further stock storage space.
Without the funds to begin using external storage providers, or capacity to expand their current premises it was decided to investigate ways to make the most of the space they had, to ensure they could stock what they needed to meet customer demand.
After investigating the funds available to them, and doing the maths, they made the decision to reach out to providers and see what solutions were available to them.
The Solution
After talking to the Rackline team, it became clear that they could make far more of their stock room space, squeezing in more stock and also implementing more organised and efficient storage.
Following a space audit, Rackline’s team provided designs that would maximise the storage space, without restricting access. The proposed plan included 3 carriages of the time-tested Monotrack roller racking solution (which sits on screw down rails, avoiding damage to the floor). These are topped profile shelving systems and complemented with wall bays to further expand capacity.
In total the profile would bays provide 68.5 linear meters of well organised, high capacity storage. The roller racking provided 70% more storage space compared to static rows of regular shelves, and the open design retained access from either side of the racks. The steel structure and powder coated nature of the systems also ensured they were hygienic and easy to clean, essential for the storage of food.
The Result
Harriet’s of Hove has a much improved store room, with every inch of available space used to its maximum. The organised stock shelving makes, depositing, rotating, and finding stock easy and efficient. The systems do not block or hinder the packing areas.
The roller racking provides much more efficient storage than static shelving, and its backless design means that stock can be access through the units. The units are easy to clean and maintain, ensuring a hygienic environment for the food items being stored.
Overall the storage shelving and high density systems employed by Rackline have improved efficiency, while expanding the the amount of space dramatically.
