About the Client
JPL Flavours is a bespoke flavour manufacturer. It specialises in the provision of high-performing natural and non-natural flavours, tailored to meet the unique needs of food manufacturers. Established in 2014. the business is headquartered in the Wirral, UK. During 2024 they undertook a dramatic move, relocating into a new, tailor built headquarters.
Office Conversion and Fit Out
Having settled on the property, the JPL team approached laboratory refurbishment specialists Klick Technology (Klick) to advise on the conversion of the space to their requirements. The Klick team held meetings with the lab users and other stakeholders within the business to brainstorm the design of the new laboratories, and look at ways to improve workflow and efficiency.
The new property not only required offices to be converted into laboratory space, but also there was a core requirement for improved lab storage for all the varied samples and ingredients required by the lab technicians. These ingredients often have overpowering smells and therefore it was important to segregate the storage areas from the the main lab space. This is where Klick Technology turned to the expertise of Rackline and its design team.

The Solution – Laboratory Design Combined With High-Density Lab Storage.
Together with its laboratory fit out which consisted of (among other solutions): New Benches, Wall Shelving and Mobile Under-Counter Storage Units, a Fume Cupboard and even a mobile tasting unit, the team at Klick proposed 2 separate bays of roller racking. These would allow the ingredients to be stored in a systematic manner. These bays would be be screened off by glass partitioning.
Rackline provided its time tested Monotrak roller racking solution, topped with Profile shelving. The Monotrak solution operates on a single guide track which can be fitted to the existing floor, without the need for extensive and often costly site work. Overall this solution provides 130 linear meters of high density storage. The powder coated finish provides a robust finish which is anti-chip and resistant to spillages.
The Result
JPL Flavours, now has an impressive lab space that more effectively meets the need of the business and its teams. The consolidated space provides comprehensive facilities for the JPL teams. The new labs improve on the old facilities, providing better workflow and efficiency, while the new storage areas provide provision for their existing stock and vast amounts of expansion if required.
