What is Lateral Picture Racking?
Lateral picture racking is based on mobile shelving carriages, these carriages are topped with mesh panels. Like mobile shelving, these panels can be compressed together to maximise space. When access is required the units can be moved to form an aisle. This clever technology can save up to 70% of the available space, compared to static systems.
Who uses Lateral Picture Racking?
Lateral picture racking is used within galleries, museums and private collections to provide additional space over traditional shelving. The use of lateral racking ensures the safety of the artworks while maximising the space available.

Dustproof Lateral Picture Racking
Rackline’s Dustproof lateral picture racking is a further evolution of our lateral art racking solutions. This system uses the same floor tracks and mobile carriages, that allow the artworks (and textiles) to be pushed together in the most space efficient way possible. It also uses the same mesh panels and hooks so you can hang vertically and safely, yet retain easy access.
The major difference is the addition of bespoke enclosures around the racking, that allow the units to be sealed shut. This keeps light away from the artworks. while dustproof seals on the edge of each section prevent dust from getting to the artworks.
